A recent survey conducted by Cinderella Shoes revealed that a worrying 68% of ladies with larger than average size feet have damaged their feet by wearing shoes that are too small. 79% dislike shopping for shoes with 11% admitting to being reduced to tears! 17% hate shopping for shoes because they are embarrassed about their shoe size and 16% only shop for shoes when it is an absolute must! It seems that heels are a tall order with 43% citing them as extremely difficult to find but trainers are the easiest to find in large sizes.
For women who wear uncommon shoe sizes, comfort, and fashion are difficult characteristics to find in a pair of shoes. Mass-produced products sold from major retailers are often ill-fitting and fall short of larger sizes. Big shoes, especially heeled styles, have to be made much stronger with sturdier load-bearing points, able to cope with greater levels of stress and wear. Creating shoes for larger sizes is a challenge as a larger foot is not simply bigger all around. Larger feet are longer and leaner than average size feet.
